Ruth Schofield
Solicitor
Ruth commenced her career with Kennedy & Cooke as an administrative assistant in Merimbula prior to her admission to practice, and has recently returned to the firm as a practising solicitor.
She has a diverse professional background spanning both government and private practice. Ruth held contract management and policy roles within the Attorney-General’s Department and the Department of Communications and the Arts, including working in the Departmental Liaison Office supporting Minister Mitch Fifield in Parliament House.
In private practice, Ruth has held senior roles in conveyancing and property law. She previously worked for one of Canberra’s largest property developers, where she managed conveyancing transactions across multiple large-scale developments. She later managed the Woden office of Velocity Conveyancing in Canberra before relocating to Melbourne, where she developed a strong disputes practice representing clients in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, particularly in retail leasing disputes, and in the County Court in relation to contractual disputes.
Ruth has substantial experience in advocacy and dispute resolution across multiple jurisdictions, including Victoria, the ACT and New South Wales. She advises on corporate and trust structures and represents clients in commercial and property-related disputes, as well as wills and estates matters, including family provision claims. She is also expanding her practice in family law.
